Blue Ridge PRISM is hosting a volunteer workday at Greene Community Park located at 512 Jeri Allen Way, Ruckersville, VA 22968. Come and learn how to safely treat and control invasive plants during the summer, and spend a few hours practicing new skills at the park! 

We will train volunteers on safe and effective methods for controlling invasive forbs, vines, and shrubs. Activities include clearing, cutting as needed; foliar spray, cut stump and hack and squirt per protocol; hand pull if feasible.

After this hands-on training, volunteers will spend time managing the invasive plants at Greene Community Park and then hopefully use these skills in their own backyards in the future!

This workshop will take place on Friday, July 21 and will be outside– so dress accordingly. Hats and sunscreen highly recommended! The rain date is July 26th.

Please make note of the following:

– Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required to participate. No exceptions.

–Sorry, this event is not suitable for children under the age of 18.

– Participants will be working with herbicides and sharp tools. Personal protective equipment will be provided. However, if you have work gloves and/or eye protection, please bring them. We will go over specific protocols for the safe use of herbicides.

– Blue Ridge PRISM reserves the right to cancel the event in the case of inclement weather or if there are insufficient registration numbers. If you find that you cannot attend, please be kind enough to let us know at least 48 hours in advance. (Rain date is July 26)
