Environmental Communications Fellowship

Blue Ridge PRISM is seeking a full-time, paid fellow from June through July/early August 2023 to join our Communications and Outreach team. Exact start and end dates are flexible within this time range.

As part of Blue Ridge PRISM’s Communications & Outreach team, your work will focus on engaging with our communications, social media, webpage, webinar, and volunteer resources areas. There will also be opportunities to accompany staff on field visits within Blue Ridge PRISM’s southern region. Fellows successful in this role are proficient in navigating the major social media platforms, and have a basic comfort level with webpage building logistics. They must possess good writing and editing skills. There will be times when the fellow will interact with volunteers, landowners, and the general public. This requires a combination of professional, friendly, and tactful behavior. We are looking for someone who practices good time management and is a creative problem solver.

Examples of projects may include developing training materials for partners, creating content for social media and newsletters, organizing and staffing grassroots advocacy efforts, updating our website, and assisting with webinars and in-person workshops with staff and partners. You will also have the opportunity to conduct policy research on invasive plant legislation and distribution.

Fellows successful in this role will have a strong desire to work in public relations, communications, or public policy/advocacy.
